Palki 2.0

Expanding the creative vision further, Rahul Luthra (Creative director) - Ra Abta By Rahul has come up with a bespoke bridal & bridesmaid collection ~ PALKI 2.0 After the huge success of Palki, I thought of extending my ideas & brand's vision.

Where palki was all about Bride & Groom in a traditional wedding set up, Palki 2.0 highlights the journey of two soulmates seeking divine blessings for a blissful life post nuptials. The collection has some distinctive breath-taking motifs combined together to bring alive exceptional pieces of jewellery. We have used various flower motifs depicting Gods & Goddesses.

The pieces are like a scene from heavenly abode where the bride & groom are blessed with flower showers by Apsaras sent from Divine. With this collection we have tried to revive one of the oldest artistic techniques used in making Jewellery ~ Meenakari. The collection has some beautiful pieces with hand painted enamel done with such perfection by artisans of the Pink city. Apart from miniature human figures like bride, groom and baraatis, the collection has various animal motifs like elephants, horses, peacocks & swans each depicting its own importance in Indian mythology & culture. Rahul with his team did an extensive research on classical bollywood movies, visited various museums and studied jewellery from various historic eras. Hence, no wonder the finished pieces speak for themselves. The pieces are a perfect blend of architectural and floral motifs.

Various precious & semi precious stones like carved emeralds tubes, tourmalines & jades brings together an eye pleasing colour palette completed with a hand knit jaal of cultured pearls. Some of the iconic pieces of the collection are a ring with a sindoor box inside, a carved stone bracelet with a miniature painting inside, a groom's sehra separating into a choker, a necklace which opens up into 2 bracelets, a keychain (Chabi Ka Gucha) with a box to keep a farewell message for the bride, and many more. Another important aspect of Palki 2.0 is how revolving and rotating movements are used in finger rings, sherwani buttons & toe rings. With this collection the brand also emphasis the need to understand LOVE IS LOVE. The soulmates are not just bride & groom, but of-course Bride-Bride & Groom-Groom. The storytelling pieces beautifully signify importance of love beyond genders.
